Website 3.0 Rolls Out

Welcome to the third major iteration of the IMS website. This iteration marks our change in name to AIMS. This reflects the very generous gift of $14.7 million from C. Michael Armstrong and his wife, Anne. The Armstrong gift was commemorated with an event in March 2008.

This new site also reflects a change in strategy. As the web moves from 2.0 to 3.0, one thing is clear: collaborative content and personalization continue to drive innovation. To reflect this, the new AIMS site allows users to comment, rate, and if desired, contribute content. If you want to be an author of content on this site, just let the admin know and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

You can navigate the site through the links at the top, or by category of posting through the links on the right. You can also choose “Tags” to see a Tag Cloud of postings, which can be used for navigation, or you are welcome to subscribe to any one of the RSS Feeds that are driven by categories. The calendar to the right is dynamically driven (real time) by our Google Calendar (which slows the load time a bit – sorry!) and the bookmarks below it are also drawn in real-time from our AIMS del.icio.us bookmarks. These are sites that the AIMS community is interested in sharing. We also have identified some video that might be worth checking out. All in all, we are looking to create an experience that you can customize. Find the categories that interest you and make them your AIMS site. The content on this homepage will churn pretty frequently, so be sure to dig deeper using the categories and tags. We’ll highlight particular posts from time to time with the “Featured Story” with the red banner below. These posts will stay on the homepage a bit longer than others, which may drop off quickly.

Be sure to join our Facebook and LinkedIn communities and keep them active. Lastly, feel free to comment on this post and let us know your thoughts. What do you like? What can we do make this work better for you?

Special thanks goes out to Dave Ensor for his extensive mods that made this template work for us and Peg Faimon for her logo design and general design feedback and ideas for the site!
